Golden Valley News

On the first Saturday in May, two eighth grade classes not only marked the arrival of spring by dressing in white, weaving flower headdresses, and dancing with bright ribbons around a maypole, but also marked and celebrated their long-standing community here at Golden Valley River School. Usually there is just one maypole and one eighth grade class dancing.  However, this year, the River School was fortunate to have two maypoles, one for each graduating eighth grade class, to celebrate, dance, and weave around in front of the school’s community.

Over the past eighteen years, Golden Valley students have contributed to making countless numbers of art pieces. One of the most monumental art pieces is the hand carved wooden sign Mrs. Keyser-Petty made with the first graduating K-8 class of Golden Valley.  The sign was meticulously created and finished in 2008.

We are excited to announce that November 29th kicks off our exciting new program: “Week of Giving.”

Our Week of Giving kicks off with the nationally celebrated “Giving Tuesday.” This special day is in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a day to celebrate nonprofit organizations by donating to your favorite causes. During this season of gratitude, it's important to look past consumerism and shed light on all the great charity work that takes place in our communities.

Golden Valley Charter Schools will host a town hall meeting on Wednesday, September 28th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the River School multi-purpose room. Come and meet our new Executive Director, Caleb J. Buckley, EdD, new Business Manager, Lynne Ashcraft, and principals from each school. We will begin the evening with light refreshments, a welcome from Dr. Buckley and then open a forum for questions from the community.
